The Gate City

Greensboro, North Carolina is known as the Gate City. In the middle of the 19th century, it became a major hub for trains passing to the South. It brought a lot of life to the city. Now, there are few trains running through the city. This is an old abandoned platform in downtown Greensboro.

La ville de Greensboro en Caroline du Nord est appelée "Gate City". Au milieu du 19e siècle, la ville est devenue un centre ferroviaire pour les trains qui ont passé au Sud. La ville était vivante, et elle a accueilli beaucoup de voyageurs. Maintenant, il y a peu de trains qui passe par Greensboro, car comme partout aux EU c'est un mode de transport de moins et moins populaire. Cette photo-ci, c'est une quai abandonnée et vétuste au centre-ville de Greensboro.
